Besides nighttime feedings, a NCS/night nurse can help with washing bottles, breastfeeding and pumping assistance, and give general guidance on newborn care.

Our NCS placement process typically takes 2-8 weeks from start to finish. NCS can sometimes book up months in advance so while our process only takes a few weeks, we recommend getting started on your search earlier to secure someone.

All of our Newborn Care Specialist candidates meet the following minimum requirements:
Minimum of 3 years infant care experience
CPR and First Aid certified
Able to legally work in the US
Valid US driver's license
Non-smoking
Minimum of 3 professional references

The average rate for an experienced NCS/Night Nurse is $30-35+/hr depending on their experience and certifications, number of babies, and any additional job duties needed.

A NCS’s main responsibility is to care for your baby overnight with feedings (whether it be breastfeeding or bottle feeding), assist with pumping, washing bottles, changing diapers, swaddling and getting your baby back to sleep. Once your baby is a little older, an NCS may assist with some sleep training and promoting healthy sleep habits. Everyone has a different comfort level when it comes to sleep training so your NCS will work with you to develop a sleep plan. They can also assist by teaching you about safe sleep habits and general newborn care. A NCS does not typically help with household duties besides washing bottle/pump parts if they are only working overnight hours.

Typically a NCS would be considered a household employee and you would pay employer taxes. There are cases where a NCS would be considered a 1099 independent contractor. We have payroll partners we are happy to connect you with that can advise you on this!
