How long have you been with Your Happy Nest:
I have had the pleasure of working with Your Happy Nest from its earliest days and just had my six year anniversary in fall 2018!
What is your role with the company:
I am the Family Consultant with Your Happy Nest Atlanta. I work with all of our clients who are seeking a full-time or part-time nanny, live in nannies and newborn care specialist/night nanny. That process begins with an in-home Family Consultation so that I can get to know each family on a personal level and help to make a great nanny match for them. I then guide the families through the nanny placement process and work with them until we have placed a wonderful nanny with their family. I have met so many incredible families over the years and love getting to know our clients personally.
I also work with the Atlanta Hawks and the Atlanta Braves to provide nanny teams for their players during all of their home games each. This has been a really fun addition to my work with Your Happy Nest!
What is the most rewarding part of your job:
One of the truly amazing things about my job is that I get to see the many different ways that families raise happy and healthy kids! There are so many different parenting approaches, child care philosophies, and types of schedules that can work for families. I’ve seen it all, and I have learned that there is no right or wrong way to raise your child as long as you are providing a home full of love. Watching parents and nannies work together as a team to ensure that children have a stable, happy childhood full of wonder and love is very rewarding.
Where are you from originally:
I grew up in Tupelo, Mississippi but have lived in Atlanta for the last 16 years. I consider Atlanta to be my home.
Where is your favorite spot to go for a night out or a date night:
My husband and I enjoy trying new restaurants when we have a night out. My new favorite is Boccalupe, and my long-standing favorite is Cakes and Ale in Decatur. Yum!
What is the last book you read or you are currently reading:
I love to read, and I’m always in the middle of a few books! I’m currently reading “Strong As a Mother” by Kate Rope, “Strange Romance” by Audrey Niffeneger, and “Things Fall Apart” by Chinua Achebe. I recently finished reading “Commonwealth” by Ann Patchett, which was amazing.
What song would you choose to sing for karaoke:
This one is easy for me because I love karaoke. Son of A Preacher Man and Cabaret are my go-tos.
What is your favorite place you’ve been on vacation:
It’s really tough to pick just one! I loved spending time in Tuscany and Rome with my husband just before my first daughter was born. We stayed in a beautiful 16th century farmhouse in Tuscany and ate so many delicious things. It’s such a lovely place and it was a really special trip.
I also went to Hawaii a few years ago, and the natural beauty there is stunning. Those are probably my two favorites, and I look forward to having new adventures in new places!
What is your favorite place to go in Atlanta with kids:
There are so many great places to take kids in Atlanta! I recently took my three little ones hiking at Sweetwater Creek State Park, and that was fantastic. I also love the Southeastern Railway Museum because it’s a little off the beaten path. Biking on the Beltline is also a favorite.
Do you have any interesting skills or hobbies:
I have always enjoyed cooking, and I like to challenge myself with new cooking projects on a fairly regular basis. Right now I’m cooking a lot of spicy North Indian food, which has been a delicious project.
I also love hiking and exploring the natural beauty all around Atlanta. There are some incredible waterfall trails in North Georgia. My children also love hiking and camping, and we have a lot of fun weekend adventures!
